I also published a tutorial breaking down how I animated one of the logo animation examples for my class, Principles of Animation: Bring a Logo to Life. You don't need to watch the class for the tutorial to make sense!

🤫 Sneak Peak

I’ve mostly been focusing on the first video for my new YouTube channel, Explanimated, where I’ll be making solutions-focused explainer videos on environmental issues. I’ll be totally honest with you… it has not been easy and it’s taking much longer than I was hoping!

⚡ Quick Tip

I recently did a freelance project animating a logo made of tapered strokes (hopefully I can share it soon!). I animated it with trim paths in After Effects, which is a great way to draw paths animating in, but working with tapered strokes can make things tricky.

To avoid weird looking paths (like the one on the left) when animating tapered strokes in, animate the Start and End Length from 100%, to whatever the original value is, as the trim paths are animating in.

You can also adjust the Start and End Ease for a slightly different look.

👉 Random Recommendation

When I’m not on the computer, I love gardening–veggies, flowers, including cut flowers which is new for me this year, and even fruit (peaches are my favorite!). I also love learning about nerdy science stuff which is why The Science of Gardening by Dr. Stuart Farrimond is right up my alley. The illustrations are beautiful–every page is like an infographic–and the info is fascinating and useful! 🌻
